Spring 2015 MuCh Topics

 

Each week there is a different discussion topic related to Christianity and

Islam. Below is the list of topics for the semester. Remember, no prior

knowledge is necessary, just come with a willingness to learn! 

February 2: Miracles

For the first meeting of MuCh this semester the topic is one that will focus on God's greatness and His amazing workings in this world. We will discuss miracles that are in the Quran and the Bible, and we will have a time to share personal experiences with miracles. 

 

February 9: Different Denominations

Neither Christianity nor Islam is homogeneous in its adherents and their interpretations. In this MuCh topic we will look into the different denominations of each faith and ask: why are they different? 

 

February 23: Notable Women

Both Islam and Christianity have amazing and influential women in their histories. In this week's MuCh we will look at their stories and thier influence. 

 

March 2: The Creation Story

The Bible and the Quran tell the story of how God created the Earth and Heaven. For this topic we will look at the creation stories that are found in the Quran and the Bible and discuss their similarities, differences, and our individual understandnings of them. 

March 9: Animals and Nature

God reveals Himself in many ways. In this week's MuCh dicussion we will be looking at the stories that include significant animal figures and stories that revolve around man's relation to nature. How did animals and humans interact? How do we live with animals and in nature? Etc. 

 

March 23: Dawa and Proselytizing

Sharing our faith. What does it mean? What does this look like? How important is it to us and our understanding of Islam or Christianity? What does it mean to you? 

 

March 30: Favorite Passages Night

In this week's MuCh we invite members to come with their favorite passage from the Quran or the Bible and share it with the group. Why did he/she pick that passage? What does he/she like about it? 

 

April 6: Dealing with Despair 

No life is free of sadness, disappointments, or despair. In this MuCh topic we will discuss the ways in which our faith helps us in these situations. We invite memebers who feel comfortable to do so to share their personal experiences with the group. 

 

 

 

 

 

April 13: Sexuality 

In this wek's MuCh we invite people to come to this safe space and talk about the topic of Sexuality. How do faith and sexuality interact? Do they at all? What are the different personal opinions about sexuality? 

 

April 20: Experience with Prayer Night

Prayer is a central part of both Islam and Christianity. This week we invite MuCh members to share the importance and impact of prayer in their lives and in their relationships with God. 

 

April 27: OPEN DISCUSSION! 

For this week the members of MuCh will decide what we will discuss! 

 

May 4: Testimonies Night

Tonight is a night for MuCh members to share openly and honestly about their relationship with God. The high points and the low. It's a time for us to grow closer as friends.
